Emmy Award-winning actress and recent bride Kerry Washington is pregnant with her first child. A slight baby bump was evident when she attended the Power of Women event on Oct. 4 in Los Angeles.
The decidedly-private celebrity and NFL player Nnamdi Asomugha wed in Hailey, Idaho on June 24, 2013 but kept it a secret for many months before it was quietly leaked to the media.
Her husband was born in Lafayette, Louisiana to Nigerian parents and raised in Los Angeles. The 32-year-old San Francisco 49ers cornerback was drafted by the Oakland Raiders in 2003 and played for eight season. He joined the Philadelphia Eagles last year before landing with the 49ers in 2013.
His one-year deal includes a base salary of $1.35 million with a chance to earn an additional $1.65 million in incentives.
Washington has starred as political fixer Olivia Pope in the popular ABC thriller ‘Scandal’ since April 2012. The third season premiere was broadcast on Oct. 3. The show will have a winter hiatus through the holidays and will resume after the 2014 Winter Olympics on February 27.
It seems unlikely Kerry will do much dishing about her pregnancy. She recently told Glamour magazine, “I learned through experience that is doesn’t work for me to talk about my personal life.”
