Veteran game show host Bob Barker will be celebrating his 90th birthday as a guest emcee on ‘The Price is Right.’

CBS revealed that the 35 year host who retired in 2007 will present a special showcase on December 12, 2013 — the same day he celebrates a milestone life event.

The show will pay tribute to the longtime animal activist throughout the week of Dec. 9-13 by featuring pet adoptions. He became a vegetarian in 1979–the same year he began promoting animal rights.

Barker donated $2.5 million to PETA in 2010 to fund their new office in Los Angeles. The organization officially opened the Bob Barker Building on Sunset Boulevard in 2012.

Prior to ‘The Price is Right,’ Barker hosted ‘Truth or Consequences from 1956 to 1974. His entire game show career spanned 57 years.

Barker penned an autobiography with the help of former L.A. Times Book Review editor Digby Diehl. Priceless Memories was released in 2009 and is available on audiobook, read by Barker himself.

Bob married his high-school sweetheart Dorothy Jo Gideon in 1945. She died of lung cancer in 1981. They had no children.

‘The Price is Right,’ hosted by Drew Carey, airs weekdays on CBS at 11 a.m. Eastern.
