Country crooner Jason Aldean of ‘Big Green Tractor’ fame hit twitter Monday to share some tragic news with his fans.

The singer tweeted, “With a heavy heart, I’m sad to say that a man passed away last night after stepping out in front of my bus in Indiana.”

“In all the years I’ve been touring and all the miles we’ve driven, nothing prepares you for something like this to happen. I’m praying for Albert Kennedy‘s family and friends today and ask that you do the same.”

The accident happened at 1:30 a.m. when a man walked into the middle of the northbound lane of Highway 41, according to law enforcement officials. He was pronounced dead at the scene with head and chest injuries. Besides the driver, the only passenger on the bus was Jason Aldean.

Knox County Sheriff Michael Morris indicated the victim often walked around town. It remains unclear why he walked into oncoming traffic. An investigation is reportedly underway.

Aldean, the 36-year-old father of two daughter, filed for divorce from his high school sweetheart in April, citing irreconcilable differences after he admitted to acting inappropriately with former ‘American Idol’ contestant Brittany Kerr.

He will perform at the 47th Annual CMA Awards Wednesday, Nov. 6, 2013 at Bridgestone Arena in Nashville. The event will air live on ABC 8:00 p.m. eastern.
