Talk show host Ellen DeGeneres rewarded the kind act of New Hampshire waitress Sarah Hoidahl Friday with a number of gifts – including a check for $10,000.
Sarah was invited to Hollywood after Ellen Show producers learned about her recent good deed that was quickly spreading on social media.
The Ruby Tuesday employee paid a $27.75 bill for two of her military customers during the 16-day government shutdown. They were so touched by the gesture that they posted details on the Facebook page of the New Hampshire National Guard – along with an explanation that was titled ‘Lunch Is on Me.’
“Meet Sarah Hoidahl. She is a waitress in Concord. She is 21, and a single mother. Earlier this week, she waited on two uniformed soldiers who stopped by for lunch. When it came time for the check, this is what she presented to the two soldiers.”
Ellen presented Sarah with a 50 inch television, $27.75 in cash and wrote her a check for $10,000. DeGeneres repeated several times, “You’re a good person.”
