After a blistering start by Bodemeister it was I’ll Have Another who came through by 1-1/2 lengths at 15-1 odd to win the 138th Kentucky Derby.

A record crowd of 165,307 watched the 20-horse field at Churchill Downs Saturday. Check out the finishing payout stats:

Winning jockey Mario Gutierrez rode the chestnut colt from post No. 19 and remained mid-pack until the very end. He said, “He’s an amazing horse. I told everybody before the first time I rode him, I knew he was the one.”

Trainer Doug O’Neil already has his sights set on the Preakness in two weeks, “Maryland, here we come baby!”
