Donald Trump controlled the NBC airwaves last night with four hours of non-stop drama. The first two hours were dedicated to the Miss USA 2010 pageant that was broadcast live from Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino in Las Vegas.

Winning the crown was Miss Michigan 2010 Rima Fakih.

The final two hours were devoted to Celebrity Apprentice, filmed in New York City. This show was particularly interesting because viewers saw the field of five remaining contestants brought down to just two. The action started out in the Boardroom, where Trump pitted Sharon Osbourne, Maria Kanellis, Curtis Stone, Bret Michaels and Holly Robinson Peete against each other.

Osbourne nearly caved in with emotion at this point and the tears didn’t let up. She refused to bash anyone, and showered particular attention and praise on Holly, all the while bawling her eyes out.

Maria, when asked who she thought should be fired, pointed the finger at Curtis. She said, “The reason I said you were so arrogant is because you came into our dressing room and took a crap and left the stench in the room.” This little tidbit irritated Trump, and he fired her on the spot.

The remaining four contestants were interviewed individually by Bill Rancic, Season 1 winner, and Joan Rivers who won last season. Rivers was in favor of a Sharon vs Holly showdown but Rancic didn’t feel the love for Ozzie’s wife.

In the end, Curtis and Sharon were fired and Holly and Bret did a little celebrating before putting on the gloves to duke it out for the top prize. They left the Boardroom arm in arm and Michaels said, “I’m gonna get you drunk and hungover so you can’t win nothing.”

The second hour of Celebrity Apprentice covered part one of the Bret vs Holly challenge. The task, worth $250,000 to the winners charity, was for each of them to create a new Snapple tea flavor, as well as a three page print ad, a 3-minute television commercial, and organize a launch event for the new flavor. The winning flavor will be sold by Snapple with the proceeds going to the winner’s charity. Therefore, they needed to incorporate their charity into the promotion of the product.

Bret is assigned Summer Sanders and Darryl Strawberry as his team mates. They determine they will create a diet tea because of Bret’s diabetic condition. They come up with Cinnamon, Passion Fruit and Vanilla.

Holly is paired with Curtis Stone and Maria Kanellis. They also pick Passion Fruit, Vanilla and Strawberry. Curtis and Bret then negotiate to see who will get the opportunity to create Passion Fruit and without much of a protest, Bret caves.

The highly creative Michaels names his new drink TROPAROCKA Diet Snapple Tea, and has cinnamon added to the formulation because it assists diabetics. Holly goes with Snapple PASSIONBERRY Tea, and is thrilled because she plans to use the play on words to support her ‘passion’ for her charity.

Bret and his team create two commercials, one serious and one funny. Curtis is sent by Holly to sweet talk his way into a prop house to secure items needed for their commercial.

The show ends as the two groups are getting ready to shoot their TV spots, get their print work completed and organize their launch events. Next week the show will pick up where the action left off.

The two segments were films prior to Bret Michaels’ hospitalization for a brain hemorrhage. We are being told that he will appear at the finale next Sunday, which follows immediately after part two of the challenge. The two-hour show will air on NBC beginning at 8:00 p.m. CT. Based on the serious health crisis that nearly cost the rocker his life, the show should be a ratings bonanza for Celebrity Apprentice.

We can’t help but wonder if this turn of events will color Donald’s decision when Holly and Bret hit the Boardroom on live television next week. Something tells us that Michaels’ chances have improved considerably, right along with his health.
