George Clooney will host a Haiti relief telethon on MTV, Friday, January 22, to raise funds in the aftermath of a massive earthquake that rocked the nation.

A rep for MTV confirmed the news to Hollyscoop, saying, “I can confirm that George Clooney is working with MTV Networks to plan a Haiti relief telethon for next Friday, but those are the only details we can share at the moment. It’s all still coming together.”

Thousands are dead after the 7.0 magnitude earthquake ripped through the country, toppling the presidential palace and thousands of hillside shanties.

Clooney has reached out to other celebrities, encouraging them to donate as well.

Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie have donated $1 million, while Lance Armstrong has pledged $250,000.
