The outspoken conservative talk-radio host Rush Limbaugh called 911 from his 9th-floor hotel room after suffering chest pains yesterday. Paramedics were dispatched to the scene and transported the patient to Queen’s Medical Center in Honolulu.

According to KITV, he told the ambulance crew that he had been taking medication for a back problem. He spent time golfing at Waialae Country Club earlier in the week.

Rush arrived in Hawaii on December 23rd. Other high profile guests on the islands for the holiday’s include President Barack Obama and Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi.

Bryan Cheplic, a spokesman for Honolulu Emergency Services would only say, “A man was taken from Kahala Hotel and Resort at 2:41 p.m..”

Kit Carson, chief of staff at the “Rush Limbaugh Show” wasn’t so tight lipped and reported, “Rush was admitted to and is resting comfortably at a Honolulu hospital today after suffering chest pains.”

Limbaugh, 58, who pulls in 14 million listeners each week, was scheduled to resume his radio show on January 4, 2010. His website has posted the following statement: “Rush appreciates your prayers and well wishes, and he will keep you updated via RushLimbaugh.com.”

The talk-radio host signed a new agreement last year with Clear Channel Communications extending his contract until 2016 for $400 million.
