The 43rd Annual CMA Awards 2009 brought a host of surprises, including an awards sweep by 19-year-old country sweetheart Taylor Swift. She won Music Video of the Year for Love Story, Album of the Year for Fearless, Female Entertainer of the Year and the top award of the evening, CMA Entertainer of the Year.

When she took the stage to accept the award for Album of the Year she said, “This album is my diary.” The comment goes hand in hand with an observation she made last year, suggesting that if she has spent more than 15 minutes with someone, they will likely end up in one of her songs.

As she accept the CMA Entertainer of the Year award, she ended by saying, “I want to thank everyone here tonight for not running up on stage during my speech.” The reference to the Kanye West VMA incident was well received by the audience.

Other top CMA winners included Single of the Year I Run To You Lady Antebellum, Song of the Year In Color Jamey Johnson, Vocal Group of the Year Lady Antebellum, New Artist of the Year Darius Rucker, Vocal Duo of the Year Sugarland, Male Vocalist of the year Brad Paisley, Musical Event of the Year Brad Paisley and Keith Urban, and Musician of the Year Mac Macanally.

Show co-host Carrie Underwood came up winless this year.
