Back in September 2008 Ryan O’Neal and his son Redmond O’Neal were both arrested after a search of the actor’s home, in which the authorities found methamphetamines. It looks like Ryan is catching a break during his time of mourning. His longtime girlfriend Farrah Fawcett passed away on June 25th after a courageous battle with cancer.
On Friday a Malibu Superior Court judge stated that Ryan’s charges will be dropped “If” he completes a chemical dependency treatment program before his court date next year. The judge feels that Ryan has been a model citizen in recent months.
As for Redmond, who is currently in a “rehab” facility jail, he is said to be doing well. Although he is behind bars, Redmond was able to attend his mother’s funeral to say his final goodbyes.
Outside the court room on Friday, Ryan stated that they have “high hopes” for Redmond and his future sobriety.
