Kristen Stewart won the Best Female Performance at the 2009 MTV Awards last night at the Gibson Ampitheatre in Los Angeles. The accolade was awarded to the 19-year-old actress for her lead role as Bella Swan in Twilight.
The award was presented by the trio of Cameron Diaz, Sofia Vassilieva and Abigail Breslin. A very nervous and flustered Stewart struggled through an acceptance speech and then proceeded to fumble with her award, sending it airborne.
It was a good night for the vampire love story, which won a total of five honors, including best film. Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson and Taylor Lautner introduced the world premiere trailer of the Twilight sequel New Moon.
Even more startling than the awkward Kristen Stewart award flip was the stunt pulled by Sasha Baron Cohen, who dropped from the ceiling, dressed as a giant dove, onto the lap of Eminem. See Eminem and Bruno video here.
