Mel Gibson confirmed last night on the Tonight Show that his new girlfriend Oksana Grigorieva is pregnant. Rumors have been swirling since the actor announced, through his rep, that he and his wife of 28 years were getting a divorce.
The actor, 53, took some good-natured ribbing from comedic host Jay Leno, who pressed for ‘dirt’ details on his break-up with Robyn Gibson, as well as the age of his new girlfriend.
Gibson took all of the credit for the split, saying “I did a pretty good hatchet job on my marriage myself. I’m to blame. If you’re inclined to judge, put it here.” Then Leno delved for details on the baby mama, “What, is she 17, 18?” Gibson shared that his new love interest is nearly 40 and followed that up by saying “Now I am going to have two women mad at me.”
Asked if they were expecting a child, Mel responded, “This is true. We’re gonna have a child.” Leno quipped, “So that will make 29?” Gilson said, “Well, actually eight. I guess I’m Octo-Mel.”
Gibson’s rep has also confirmed the baby news. The actor has a fortune estimated at $1 billion. The divorce settlement could award one-half of that sum to Mel’s soon-to-be ex-wife.
