Legendary singer Elton John and wise cracking rapper Eminem might not seem like they would ever forge a friendship, but not only are they friends, they are extremely close. In fact, Elton has stood by Eminem’s side throughout his quest to kick his drug addiction.
After the rapper returned home from his second hospital stay, he knew that this was the end of the line and that he was never going to use again. He turned to Elton, who has also had past addiction problems, for support and friendship.
Years ago, Eminem and Elton performed together at the Grammy Awards and have stayed in close contact ever since. Knowing the struggle was going to be tough for Eminem, the Candle in the Wind singer called him several times a week, giving him advice on distancing himself from performing, as well as encouraging him to get “time under his belt” before jumping back into the limelight.
