The semi-final round was held last night on the hit ABC reality show Dancing with the Stars. The four remaining contestants each performed two dance numbers for the judges, pulling out all the stops in an attempt to advance to the final round next week.
Amazing the judges and the crowd were Gilles Marini and his pro partner Cheryl Burke. They earned two sets of perfect scores for their Waltz and Salsa numbers, for a total score of 60.
Shawn Johnson and her partner Mark Ballas also got a perfect score for their Argentine Tango but had a lackluster Jive that netted them 26, for a combined score of 56 – good enough for second spot.
Holding down third spot firmly are Melissa Rycroft and Tony Dovolani, who did the Quick Step, worth 28 points and the Cha Cha that earned them 27. Their composite score was 55.
At the bottom of the leaderboard, as expected, are cowboy Ty Murray and his partner Chelsie Hightower. Their Viennese Waltz earned them 25 points and their Samba 23, for a total of 48 points. Judge Len Goodman praised the work that dance pro Hightower had done in her first season on DWTS.
The results show will air tonight. It seems likely that the celebrity performer who has been, in his words “carrying the flag for the cowboy nation”, will reach the end of the trail.
Hovering on the edge of disaster last night was co-host Samantha Harris. Her dress revealed a great deal of cleavage. During the judges scoring of Shawn Johnson’s Argentine Tango, Harris was summarily warned (video below) by Tom Bergerson, “I wouldn’t jump that much in that dress Samantha.” Ever the helpful soul, he came to Lil’ Kim‘s rescue when she suffered a wardrobe malfunction a few weeks back.
