The hit FOX reality show American Idol is getting down to the wire, with just three contestants remaining. They each sang two songs on Tuesday, May 12, 2009. Danny Gokey, Kris Allen and Adam Lambert each picked a song and the judges assigned a song to each. See elimination results here.
Paula Abdul chose the song Dance Little Sister for Danny Gokey‘s first performance. Randy Jackson loved it, Kara DioGuardi thought his dance moves were lackluster and Paula disagreed, citing the fact that she is a dance choreographer and she thought “he did really good.” Danny chose You Are So Beautiful as his second song. The judges thought he nailed it, with Simon calling it “a vocal master class”.
Randy and Kara chose the song Apologize for Kris Allen. Kara thought it was a really competent performance but left her wanting more. Her comments irked Simon Cowell, who thought their song choice for Kris had been lame, and the two had a time-wasting spat. Kris chose Heartless as his second song. Randy loved it and Kara called Kris “fearless and bold”.
Adam Lambert sang One by U2, as picked by Simon Cowell. The judges all called it brilliant. Adam chose Aerosmith song Cryin’ for his second performance. All of the judges predicted that Lambert would be in the finals.
