It was down to six couples on the ABC hit reality show Dancing with the Stars on Monday night. We found out early that one competitor, Melissa Rycroft, was injured and would not be appearing – details here.
Lil’ Kim & Derek Hough are leading the pack with a combined score of 56 after two dances. They are followed closely by Gilles Marini & Cheryl Burke who have 55.
In a near dead heat are Shawn Johnson & Mark Ballas at 52, Ty Murray & Chelsie Hightower with 52 and Chuck Wicks & Julianne Hough at 51.
At the bottom with a 46 are Melissa Rycroft & Tony Dovolani.
One half of each teams score tonight came from a group dance segment. Shawn, Chuck and Lacey Schwimmer, who stood in at virtually the last minute for Melissa, and their dance pro partners made up Team Mambo. Lil’ Kim, Gilles and Ty, along with their pro partners were Team Tango.
The groups danced in pairs and then all members came together for a choreographed finish. Team Mambo was awarded 25 points by the judges, while Team Tango received 28. Tony and Lacey were not scored.
Judge Carrie Ann Inaba was not impressed with the male half of Team Mambo after they shed their dance costumes to reveal body suits over tights. She said it was “a little distracting and if you were here, you’d understand.” According to Bruno Tonioli, “Something really stood out tonight.”
