Los Alamitos, California mayor Dean Grose plans to resign after unleashing a fire storm of protest for the email postcard that he sent it to a small group of friends. The caption read: No Easter Egg Hunt This Year and showed the White House grounds planted as a watermelon patch.

One of the recipients of the email was a local businesswoman and city volunteer Keyanus Price, who publicly scolded the mayor for his actions.

According to Grose, “There is no way that I meant anything racist in my email. I was merely criticizing Obama’s fiscal plan, which is so horrendous that it’s almost as if it were written by watermelons.”

The mayor, who claims to be “absolutely shocked” to be labeled a racist, has issued an apology to Price, her boss and indicates he will resign at the next City Council Meeting to be held on Monday night, March 2. Los Alamitos is a small town of 12,000 people in Orange County.
