George W. Bush hosted a rare Oval Office gathering and luncheon for all of the living presidents. Those present included George Herbert Walker Bush, Jimmy Carter, Bill Clinton and President-elect Barack Obama.

Discussions ranged from how to live in the presidential bubble to raising children in the White House. The last such meeting was held in 1981 by President Ronald Reagan.

George W. Bush said that he and all of the former presidents are united in their desire to see Barack Obama succeed because they all believe that no matter what party affiliation, the office “transcends the individual”.
