Bristol Palin, daughter of Alaska governor Sarah Palin, gave birth to a 7 lb. 4 oz. baby boy on Sunday in Palmer, Alaska. She and the baby daddy Levi Johnston have named their first born Tripp Easton Mitchell Johnston.

The engaged couple, both 18, are planning to be married next year. In the meantime, he has quit school and is working as an apprentice electrician while she is finishing up her high school diploma requirement via an online correspondence program.

Family spokesperson, Colleen Jones, Bristol’s great-aunt said, “We think it’s wonderful. The baby is fine and Bristol is doing well. Everyone is excited.”
