As you’ve likely heard by now, Jimmy Kimmel was suspended by ABC on Wednesday.

The network made the decision after being threatened by the FCC, who urged both parent company Disney and local ABC affiliate owners to take action after Kimmel made a joke about the reaction to Charlie Kirk’s murder.

At first, it looked as though some of Kimmel’s most trusted allies planned to remain silent about his shocking suspension.

The panelists on The View made no mention of their network’s decision, and fellow late night host Jimmy Fallon abruptly canceled a gig, seemingly so that he wouldn’t be forced to discuss the Kimmel controversy.

On his Thursday night broadcast, however, Fallon broke his silence on the topic of his friend’s suspension.

Fallon addresses Kimmel controversy in scathing monologue

“Well guys, the big story is that Jimmy Kimmel was suspended by ABC after pressure from the FCC, leaving everyone thinking WTF,” Fallon said at the start of the show, adding:

“This morning I woke up to 100 text messages from my dad saying, ‘I’m sorry they canceled your show.’ I go, ‘That’s not me, that’s Jimmy Kimmel.’

“But to be honest with you all, I don’t know what’s going on and no one does, but I do know Jimmy Kimmel, and he is a decent, loving and funny guy, and I hope he comes back.”

Fallon kept things light, but managed to gently poke the Trump administration all the same.

“A lot of people are worried that we won’t keep saying what we want to say or that we’ll be censored, but I’m going to cover the president’s trip to the U.K. like I normally would,” he said, adding:

“Here we go. Well, guys, President Trump just wrapped up his three-day trip to the U.K., and he looked …” Here a voice-over chimed in to say, “incredibly handsome.”

“As always, his tie was …” Fallon once again trailed off as the voice-over said, “Exactly the right length.”

“And his hair looked …,” Fallon said, as the announcer added, “better than Conrad’s from The Summer I Turned Pretty.”

“During the trip, protesters managed to project images onto the sides of Windsor Castle of Trump, standing next to his good friend Jeff …,” Fallon said, as the announcer added, “Goldblum.”

Yes, Fallon even made a sly reference to the Trump-Jeffrey Epstein connection, which is a bold move in these censorious times.

We’re sure Kimmel appreciates the support and acknowledgment.

It remains unclear if the suspended Jimmy will ever be permitted to return to his late night gig — but it’s not looking promising at the moment.
