The FDA announced today that fourteen Hydroxycut weight-loss products, linked to liver damage and death, have been recalled by lovate Health Sciences USA Inc. The drugs are manufactured in Oakville Ontario and are distributed in Blasdell, New York. According to an official FDA warning, there have been twenty-three reports of serious health problems associated with the supplements.

Adverse Hydroxycut side effects range from jaundice, elevated liver enzymes, and damage requiring liver transplants. One death due to liver failure has been reported. Symptoms have included jaundice, brown urine, nausea, vomiting, fatigue, weakness, stomach pain and loss of appetite.

Hydroxycut products have been marketed as weight-loss supplements, fat burners, energy enhancers, low carb diet aids and water loss agents.

Manufacturer lovate Health Sciences USA Inc has agreed to recall a total of fourteen products. Consumers who have the products are urged to stop using them. They are to be returned to the place of purchase for a refund.
