Former world champion tennis pro Chris Evert and golf legend Greg Norman have gone their separate ways after only 15 months of marriage. The announcement comes just days before Norman will captain the International team at the Presidents Cup in San Francisco, where wives of the captains take on a visible role.
Norman will hold a Presidents Cup press conference on Tuesday morning at Harding Park but his spokesman, Bart Collins, said the two-time British Open champ will not be commenting on his private life.
Reps for the couple have confirmed the split to People magazine. Evert’s rep said, “Chris and Greg will remain friends and supportive of one another’s family.”
Greg proposed to Chris in December of 2007 and they were married in the Bahamas in June of 2008. Chris has three son’s from a previous marriage to Andy Mill. Greg was involved in an ugly divorce from his first wife Laura Andrassy, who received a settlement of $100 million. The couple have two children.
