Grammy Award-winning performer Bruno Mars and his band will headline the biggest gig on the planet, the Super Bowl XLVIII Halftime Show on Feb. 2, 2014.

An official statement on Mars’ participation in the 2014 Super Bowl Halftime Show is set for Sunday, according to the the Associated Press. The news outlet received the leaked information earlier today.

The 27-year-old entertainer will work his magic at the Pepsi-sponsored event at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey. Last year Beyonce and Destiny’s Child drew 104 million viewers.

Despite the fact that the regular NFL season has just kicked off, the hype is already beginning a full five months before Bruno and his band, The Holligans, take the stage to rock our socks off.

The group features Bruno on lead vocals and eight other members who lend support on keyboard, bass guitar, drums, trombone, saxophone, trumpet and piano.

Mars has been churning out hit singles with the help of his songwriting and record producing team, The Smeezingtons. Philip Lawrence and Ari Levine have collaborated with Bruno to produce two consecutive Billboard Hot 100 No. 1 singles in 2010 and two more in 2013.
