Iconic child star Shirley Temple has died at the age of 85.
Shirley Temple Black died Monday night at her home near San Francisco surrounded by family members.
The family issued a statement, saying, “We salute her for a life of remarkable achievements as an actor, as a diplomat, and most importantly as our beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and adored wife for fifty-five years of the late and much missed Charles Alden Black.”
Temple began her film career in 1932 at age 3 and from 1935-1938 she was the most popular screen actress in the country, winning a special Academy Award at age 6 for her “outstanding contribution to screen entertainment.”
