Nothing like starting Monday off in damage control. Justin Bieber is facing major backlash after a video of him telling racist jokes when he was 15 years old surfaced.
In the video, Bieber, who is backstage and clearly being videotaped, laughs while he tells a joke with the N-word as a punchline. In a statement, the 20 year old pop star said, “As a young man, I didn’t understand the power of certain words and how they can hurt. I thought it was OK to repeat hurtful words and jokes, but didn’t realize at the time that it wasn’t funny and that in fact my actions were continuing the ignorance. I take my friendships with people of all cultures very seriously and I apologize for offending or hurting anyone with my childish and inexcusable mistake. I was a kid then and I am a man now who knows my responsibility to the world and to not make that mistake again.”
Bieber has been facing quite a bit of bad publicity lately, most recently for stealing a cell phone. He’s also involved in an assault case, in which unflattering video was also leaked.
Again, I’ll ask the question — where are this boy’s PARENTS???
