Amber Portwood has been at the center of some rather scathing allegations of late.
Most notably, she’s been accused of attacking her boyfriend, Andrew Glennon, with a machete.
You’re almost definitely familiar with that story if you’re reading this article right now, but you may not be aware of an allegation Portwood just made herself.
She claims she’s done with Instagram — for the foreseeable future at least.
Why would the disgraced reality star make such an assertion?

Wait, Why Has Amber Even Been on Social Media This Whole Time?
It’s a great question. Portwood’s attorneys have been pleading with her for months to get offline because she keeps posting inflammatory things, often aimed at Glennon, that only hurt her custody case.
But Amber Has Been Ignoring These Pleas
Because of course she has, right?
And She’s Been Making Life Worse for Herself
As predicted, you know? Most recently, Katie Joy, host of the Without a Crystal Ball vlog, told authorities that Amber has been issuing threats against her online after Joy shared multiple recordings that seemed to featured Portwood verbally abusing Glennon… a lot.
What Did Amber Actually Say?
A spokesperson for the Marion County District Attorney in Indiana told TMZ that Joy went to the police and cited these threats, specifically saying Portwood told her that she “knows her address,” a statement Joy interpreted at a PHYSICAL threat.
Is She a Moron?!?
No comment… but we can only assume that Portwood reaching a plea deal to avoid prison sadly empowered the reality star, making her think she can now just say or do anything without legal repercussions.
But Here’s the Thing:
First, Amber is on probation. She has to actually NOT break the law for the next two-and-a-half years if she wants to avoid prison.
There’s Also the Matter of Custody
Andrew currently has primary custody of the ex-couple’s young son, James. If Portwood wants this to change, she probably shouldn’t be threatening people online.
Has This Finally Sunk in for Amber?
Perhaps. She may finally have realize that she has to change her behavior if she wants any shot at co-parenting James again on any regular basis.
Why Do We Say This?
Because Portwood has arrived at an important decision, announcing it to her Instagram followers as the caption to a photo of herself and her daughter.

“Last photo with me and this beautiful little lady yesterday,†the 29-year old Teen Mom OG star captioned the above social media image, breaking the following news to fans: “I’m going to hand over my Instagram so I won’t have to worry about negativity and to move forward in a positive light. You can still contact me though. I will get certain messages. #sendinglove.â€Â
Woe is Her
Not long before taking herself offline, Amber shared this quote: This is the part of my life where I silently remove myself from anyone who hurts me more than they love me, drains me more than they replenish me, brings me more stress than they do peace, and tries to stunt my growth rather than clap for it. I think that I’ve done more than enough talking and trying to make things work with certain people… I’m done.
Wait, She Thinks SHE is the Victim?!?
To a large extent, yes. But Amber also wrote as a caption to that quote: “I have to be done with this for myself to evolve and move forward. This is not worth me or my family’s stress. We are moving on while I am getting the help I need to better myself and live a healthy life…”
And She Continued/Concluded:
“In the end it is all irrelevant because we are all human and make mistakes. Own up to them and try to become the person you want to be truly. Sending love to all the beautiful souls trying for a better life.”
That Sounds Like Progress, Right?
It does. Amber had mostly been lashing out and continually denying doing anything wrong way back on July 5, the day she got arrested for allegedly assaulting Glennon.
She Also Seems to Be Trying a Little Harder with Leah
That’s the 11-year old daughter from her relationship with Gary Shirley.
That Doesn’t Sound Like Amber at All
We know, but consider what she wrote last week about her oldest child: “I love our kisses and I love singing together while looking into each other’s eyes. I love how you make me feel every time I see you. I love the text messages we send of funny gifs and when you say Goodnight but keep texting emojis. But what I love most of all is when you tell me I love you Mommy and I say I love you too beautiful. You are everything and more.”
Where Do Things Stand Legally with Amber?
As mentioned previously, she reached a plea deal in October, months after her arrest. She will receive one felony charge for the incident and be on probation for one year — and the felony charge will be lowered to a misdemeanor provided no problems arise
Where Do Things Stand with Andrew?
Glennon hasn’t posted on Instagram since November 3. He and Amber do seem to have reached some sort of truce.
