Jenelle Evans has never been in the running for any mom of the year awards, but lately, she’s been making more controversial parenting decisions than ever.
Recently, the Teen Mom 2 star has been criticized for choices she’s made regarding her eldest son, Jace, and her stepdaughter, Maryssa.
Never one to back away from a conflict, Jenelle has been quick to respond to the criticism — and it seems she’s sticking to her guns. Literally.
Take a look:
Jenelle and Maryssa
Jenelle’s relationship with David Eason’s 11-year-old daughter Maryssa has been heavily scrutinized by fans in recent weeks.
Maryssa on the Land
For reasons that aren’t quite clear, Jenelle and David have primary custody of Maryssa.
Putting In Time
Jenelle has declined to comment on the situation, but she has confirmed that she’s responsible for Maryssa’s homeschooling.
Road Trippin’
This revelation has drawn criticism from fans for numerous reasons in recent weeks, one of which is the fact that Jenelle and David recently went on a cross-country road trip.
School’s Out
The trip took place ahead of Thanksgiving and kept Jenelle and David away from their beloved “Land” for nearly two weeks.
Further Isolation
On top of that Jenelle has been criticized for removing Maryssa from extracurricular activioties that allowed her to spend time with kids her own age.
Bad Memory
Jenelle was slammed recently after sharing a Facebook memory about Maryssa’s cheerleading days, along with a caption explaining that Maryssa “decided cheer was too much for her.”
What REALLY Happened?

“First you pull her out of school & force her to be your pupil in the sinking swampland acadamy …. now you take away any chance she had to spend with girls her own age… you’re really winning at this ‘mom’ role, arent you? #cultlife,” wrote one critical fan.
The Clap Back
“I pulled her out?” Jenelle replied. “Maybe that was HER decision. Maybe she didnâÂÂt feel comfortable going to that school.”
Not Holding Back

“Maybe you donâÂÂt know a fâÂÂing thing,” the always level-headed reality star continued. “She has private tumbling, violin lessons, animation classes, completed scuba class.”
A Lot of Explaining To Do
Clearly, Jenelle is not a fan of having to explain her parenting choices. Unfortunately for her, it’s not just Maryssa who fans are concerned with.
The Jace Case
Jenelle’s oldest son, 9-year-old Jace, has been a subject of great concern among TM2 fans for several years.
The Arrangement
Jenelle does not have primary custody of Jace. The boy lives with his grandmother, Barbara Evans — but he still spends a lot of time on the Land.
Guns and Ammo
And lately, that’s meant spending a lot of time squirrel hunting with his stepfather, David Eason.
Always Packin’
David’s love of guns is no surprise. In fact, the fired TM2 star has boasted about carrying weapons on him at all times.
An Odd Choice
But many fans believe hunting is an odd choice of pastime for Jace, a boy who’s currently undergoing therapy for various emotional issues.
A Solid Point
Fans have taken issue with Jenelle and David’s decision to provide Jace with access to weapons during this difficult time.
Getting Creative
It’s a serious situation, to be sure. But there’s no denying that it’s resulted in some amusing tweets.
He Wasn’t Kidding
David’s obsession with guns has been a topic of conversation for numerous reasons this week. He also posted this photo of himself carrying a weapon while cooking and holding his daughter.
What Was He Thinking?
Needless to say, many fans took issue with David’s decision to needlessly put his daughter in harm’s way.
Uncharacteristically Quiet
Unfortunately, we’ll never know what prompted that bizarre decision, as David has kept mum on the subject.
Jenelle’s Thoughts
Jenelle has been as vocal as ever on social media, but has not remarked on David’s decision to surround her children with loaded weapons.
Preoccupied
Of course, as some fans have pointed out, it’s possible that Ms. Evans simply has other things on her mind.
Shooting From the Hip
But we’re sure it won’t be long before Jenelle goes off on another rant about her family’s Second Amendment rights.
Pre-Approved Message
And when she does, you can be sure that David will have signed off on her comments in advance.
