Several of The Bachelor star Chris Soules’ girlfriends recently took a road trip to his hometown of Arlington, Iowa, and were bored out of their minds.
Now the residents of that community are mad, and talkin’ smack!
On The Bachelor Season 19 Episode 8, the women vying for Soules’ love decided to see the town where he’s from, to get an idea of what they signed up for.
They got an idea, alright, and not necessarily a good one.
Chris Soules is proud of his home town. But that town does look boring. Plus it’s named "Arlington", which is a name famously associated with a graveyard.
However, isn’t boring to City Clerk, Mary Jo Brown, who is complaining that Bachelor producers made the town look abandoned and boring on purpose.
Specifically, Brown complains that:
- The producers used "ghost town" music for the segment.
- One of the shops they filmed was merely closed on the day they shot, and is not out of business as was implied by the ABC show.
- The producers didn’t even shoot there on a weekday.
She’s now inviting them all back, and promising to show them all a good time. To be honest though, that’s what small towns look like.
Everywhere can’t be LA or NY. Some towns just seem smaller and quainter by comparison. That’s how the people there like it.
Check out our recap of that installment and The Bachelor Season 19 Episode 9, which marked a 5-hour mega-thon (word? not a word? doesn’t matter) of Bachelor goodness this week.
