Selena Gomez was among the guests when Britney Spears married Sam Asghari.
The June 9 ceremony was intimate, featuring a small but star-studded guest list.
Over the weekend, Britney gushed about her beautiful guests, especially Selena.
She also extended a bit of an olive branch towards her semi-estranged mother.
Talent recognizes talent.
Britney Spears posted a gorgeous photo of Selena Gomez to Instagram.
It was her caption, however, that spoke volumes about how much she appreciates the phenomenal actress and singer.
“She came to my wedding …” Britney began her happy caption.
She then praised “the three most beautiful women in hollywood … @drewbarrymore, @parishilton.”
Britney admitted that, when it came to parts of the guest list, “I had no idea!!!”
“I was SO HAPPY!!!” Britney gushed.
She recalled: “She told me ‘I just want you to be happy’ three times.”
Britney remarked: “My mother does that as well.”
“It was so cool she was able to get to me and share her thoughts,” Britney wrote about Selena.
“Although I’ve been forced to see people against my will my whole life,” she acknowledged.
In contrast, Britney explained, Selena was a perfect, contrast, adding “she was a beautiful surprise!!!”
“I appreciate ALL the mental health speeches she does for our generation,” Britney expressed.
“Two hour specials with representatives,” she continued, acknowledging how much work and advocacy Selena has done.
“You’re such a special person and I had to share this picture,” Britney explained.
Britney continued: “I thought it would make her happy!!!”
“PS … My mom was asked by the paparazzi 3 times on the street,” she wrote.
Britney said that paparazzi asked her mom “‘How does your daughter feel about your response to her wedding'”
“She said all she wanted for me was to be happy!!!” Britney went on.
“Mom and Selena, I’m so happy to have such a supportive family !!!” she gushed.
Selena concluded: “God bless you.”
In the comments, Selena Gomez replied directly.
“I’m speechless,” she began. “Britney-you are so kind and have the most beautiful soul.”
Selena went on: “I am beyond lucky to know you. You deserve all the happiness in the world!”
So, first and foremost, Britney’s post is about Selena and how much she appreciates her.
Even if the Emmy’s snubbed Selena so egregiously for Only Murders In The Building, Britney doesn’t.
(Seriously, I’m still sick about that)
In fact, Britney has a long history of acknowledging other talented artists.
She will make social media posts about a particular song, or often dance to their music on Instagram.
During her conservatorship, of course, Britney was usually unable to meet them — and never without her father’s permission.
It’s interesting that Britney is giving this shoutout to her mother.
Lynne certainly failed her daughter in many ways. At the same time, she also advocated for Britney in recent years.
Family is a complicated thing. Only Britney gets to decide how much, or how little, contact to have with her mom.
