Britney Spears: I'll Do Anything to Protect My Boys From My Awful Dad!
by Simon Delott at .Immediately after Kevin Federline accused Jamie Spears of child-abuse, Britney did the right thing and let her boys stay at their dad's, where it's safe.
But keeping her kids safe from her awful dad doesn't have to mean that she can't see them. Britney has a plan to fix things.
Us Weekly reports that Britney Spears has big plans for next year -- plans to fight for her family.
"Britney’s goal in the new year is to go to family court and petition the judge for increased custody time with the boys,” the insider reveals.
“She will have the boys on Christmas Eve," the source details. "And they will go to their dad’s at some point on Christmas Day."
Britney reportedly does "not have much of a relationship” with Kevin aside from “everyday coparenting stuff."
When it comes ot communicating with her baby daddy, the insider says that "They’re cordial but don’t do very much as a family."
Things are even worse with Britney's awful father.
"The relationship between Jamie and Britney has completely fallen apart," the source affirms.
"Britney remains very angry at Jamie," the insider says, "because his actions with her kids resulted in losing custody time with the kids."
We have a sneaking suspicion that Britney's anger has more to do with him allegedly physically assaulting her son than with the ensuing legal trouble.
But Britney remains under conservatorship. Her father running her life meant that there were concerns about the safety of her sons.
Britney has a hearing on her conservatorship on January 22 of next year -- that's just over a month away.
At that time, the "findings of the probate investigator report will be discussed."
Britney has reportedly been "exploring formally petitioning the court to end the conservatorship."
About 12 years ago, Britney's conservatorship was supposed to last one long weekend. Instead, it's swallowed up a third of her life.
Britney has a veritable army of fans willing to apply public pressure to end the conservatorship if she gives the word.
Her mother has also taken an interest this year, even as Jamie tries to silence discussion of Britney's freedom by suing her fans.
"She has spent the last year prioritizing herself and her well-being," an insider says of Britney and her mental health.
The source notes that this is "something she did not have a chance to do as much during her Las Vegas residency.":
“She has had less time with her sons," the insider laments. "But got really close with her mom, Lynne, and sister, Jamie Lynn, again recently."
Nothing brings a family together like having one tyrannical douchecanoe in common.
Sean Preston is 14 years old. Jayden James is 13 years old.
In a normal custody situation, they would get a lot of say in which parent has them for however much of the time.
Both boys love their parents, but this custody matter has less to do with Kevin and Britney and more to do with Jamie.
The one silver lining is that they both have three-year restraining orders preventing Jamie from going anywhere near them.
With luck, that three-year restraining order will prove to be a lifelong defense against Jamie, whose health has reportedly been in decline.
In the mean time, there's no reason for Britney to only be able to spend 30% of her time with her sons.
Her father may have an iron grip on her finances and professional life and healthcare, but he can't come her the boys.
Hopefully Kevin and family court will see that and work to help Britney see her sons while also keeping them safe from their nightmare grandfather.
