Vanderpump Rules is entering its eighth season, and its senior cast member just turned 40.
But if you were concerned that the show was in danger of losing the drunken, chaotic energy that's long made it one of the most consistently entertaining series on the reality TV landscape, fear not.
Jax Taylor and Brittany Cartwright got married recently, and it looks like their wedding planning process will dominate yet another season of the show that made them famous.
To make matters worse, we recently learned that Katie Maloney and Tom Schwartz's first wedding was not legally binding, and the couple will get married for a second time on Vanderpump Season 8.
Yes, that means we'll have two (2) nigh-middle-aged couples planning weddings this season.
We know what you're thinking -- it sounds like the most dire of snooze-fests.
But to paraphrase Jeff Goldblum in Jurassic Park, drama ... um, finds a way.
For starters, Stassi Schroeder is feuding with Kristen Doute, and it seems that her friend group has been forced to choose sides.
And if Jax's recent Instagram activity is any indication, it looks as though a line has been drawn in the sand, and the cast as been divided into pro- and anti-Kristen factions.
Season 8 wrapped filming this week, and it appears that Jax celebrated not by ripping off his chunky sweater for a parking lot brawl, or by getting another tattoo scrawled onto his increasingly crowded flesh real estate.
No, he marked the occasion by unfollowing Kristen Doute, Ariana Madix and Tom Sandoval on all social media platforms.
Not as dramatic as throwing an awkward punch at Sandoval's impeccably-moisturized face, perhaps, but it still sends a pretty clear message about where Jax's allegiance lies these days.
Perhaps he's Team Stassi, which would be somewhat ironic, considering he spent the first two seasons destroying her psyche.
Or perhaps he's fed up with Ariana and Tom's continued support of James Kennedy (though if that's the case, we're not sure why he would have kicked Kristen to the curb).
In any event, it seems there's some serious bad blood among the SUR staffers these days.
Earlier this month, Kristen held a launch party for her James Mae t-shirt line, and Stassi and Katie were conspicuously not in attendance.
Around that same time, Stassi opened up about the stresses of filming during an episode of her podcast:
"We're at the homestretch from filming, I have a few days left. My brain is mush," she told fiance Beau Clark.
"The drama is killing me," she continued.
"I can't anymore. I can't talk about this s--t anymore... I'm literally dead inside."
"My emotions are shot," Clark chimed in, adding that filming Season 7 was a lot "more fun" than Season 8.
Maybe for you, Beau.
But if we're being honest, VPR was beginning to show signs of age in Season 7, what with everyone being coupled up and relatively content.
Add to that Jax Taylor's proclamations that he's a changed man -- married, mostly sober, focused on his future -- and you've got a recipe for a yawn-inducing eighth season.
We hate to say it, but it's a relief to know the bad blood is still flowing like Pumptinins.
