For the most part, we think Meghan Markle has been getting a very raw deal from the media.
It makes for a good story to say the new Duchess is causing problems and it's the epitome of writing bait for clicks to claim she and Kate Middleton are engaged in some ugly feud.
So, it's been a little irritating to read all this negative Meghan Markle press for the past several months.
That said, something is clearly amiss in Kensington Palace when it comes to the relationship between Markle and those who have been assigned to work for her.
We're forced to believe this because close aides continue to resign their post, allegedly because they don't get along with Markle and/or they think she's too strict or demanding of a boss.
This is the latest example:
The expecting Duchess' assistant private secretary, Amy Pickerill, has handed in her notice of resignation and is set to leave her job after one year.
Often referred to as Markle's "right hand woman," she is the third Kensington Palace aide for Meghan to quit her job over the past few months.
Kinda weird, right? And notable, no?
Markle's personal assistant, Melissa Touabti, peaced out earlier this year.
Pickerill is “leaving to pursue new opportunities," a source tells Entertainment Tonight, explaining that she started in the Royal Household as a member of the press team prior to transferring to the position in the duchess' private office, where she worked closely with Markle.
Is there actual bad blood between Markle and her departing underling?
No, this same insider alleges.
Pickerill is "a popular member of staff," the source explains, and will leave after Markle gives birth to her first child with Prince Harry.
She'll also stick around to make sure the transition to the next person in this position is smooth because she and Markle have “become close friends and they will see each other in the future."
No replacement has been named just yet.
In December, the Sunday Times reported that Meghan and Harry's interim private secretary, Samantha "The Panther" Cohen "let it be known that she intends to leave after Meghan's baby is born next spring."
This has become an unusual pattern for women who work under Markle.
Because she really is spoiled and entitled and simply too American, as rumors have claimed?
We really can't say for certain.
All we know is that the harassment of Markle really has to come to an end some time soon.
She's about to have a child, for goodness sake. Think of what this boy or girl will need to go through in the future when he or she Googles his or her mom.
Just, come on now, people.
