Well, another season of The Bachelor is in the books, which means one of the many ladies who didn't win the honor of swiping Colton's v-card has now received the consolation prize of being named the next Bachelorette.
We learned Tuesday night that that title will go to Hannah Brown, the beauty queen known to fans as Hannah Beast.
But while the news that we'll be spending an entire season in Beast Mode was mostly greeted with excitement on Twitter, some viewers were holding out hope for a curveball.
For years, it's been rumored that producers have considered making Khloe Kardashian the next Bachelorette.
The show's fan base has always been split on the idea, with some feeling it would raise the stakes even higher, and others maintaining that such stunt casting would distract from the drama of finding love.
But in the wake of the numerous Tristan Thompson cheating scandals, the pro-Khloe contingent got louder than ever.
So was there ever a chance that Khloe would have been selected as the one to hand out roses next season?
Well, it seems the topic did come up in a meeting of the show's producers.
But in the end, execs decided to go in a more traditional direction.
“@khloekardashian is very much in contention… Stay tuned!” the show's creator, Mike Fleiss, tweeted on February 20.
Naturally, this got fans whipped up into a frenzy, and Fleiss later added fuel to the fire, tweeting:
“Any decision regarding @khloekardashian as the new #TheBachelorette will need to be approved by my dear friend @KrisJenner"
Khloe's sister Kim Kardashian was quick to try and squash the rumor, tweeting, “Fake f--king news big time!!!!”
But Fleiss -- who appears to have been joking around this entire time -- fired back, tweeting:
“How would @KimKardashian know??? This is between me and @KrisJenner — and most importantly @khloekardashian !!!”
On Tuesday, Fleiss confirmed that Khloe did not make the cut, tweeting, “@KhloéKardashian didn’t make the Top Five… #TheBachelorette,”
Far from being disappointed by the news, however, Khloe was glad the speculation could not come to an end:
“I’m not f—ing clickbait right now,” Kardashian wrote on Twitter.
“Stop or you will be hearing from my lawyers. How insensitive!!” she added, presumably referring to Fleiss.
At this point, Fleiss likely realized he'd overstepped his bounds, but he couldn't resist getting in a final shot:
“One of the things we look for in choosing #TheBachelorette is a great sense of humor… Might be time to look elsewhere,” he tweeted.
Funny gag, or insensitive mockery? You be the judge.
