Carrie Underwood doesn't just have a really good singing voice.
She's also beloved for constantly keeping it real.
And the former American Idol champion has done this once again via an extended Instagram post.
The singer gave birth to her second child in January, welcoming a boy named Jacob along with husband Mike Fisher.
In an emotional message shared in affiliation with the selfie above, Underwood opened way up about the challenges of exercising and getting fit after having a baby.
I’m going to be honest, “bouncing back” after having Jacob has been much more difficult than after I had Isaiah and I’ve been pretty hard on myself lately," wrote Underwood on Tuesday, referencing her first son and adding:
I go into the gym and I can’t run as fast or as far. I can’t lift as much weight or do as many reps as I could a year ago.
I just want to feel like myself again...for my body to feel the way that I know it can.
Underwood and Fisher became parents for the first time about four years ago.
In September of 2018, Underwood admitted to having had three miscarriages in the time between welcoming that first kid and then getting pregnant with her next.
Continued Carrie in this post:
As I was working out today, I realized that for the past 11(ish) months, my body has not belonged to me. It was a perfect home for Jacob. And even now it belongs to him every time he drinks his milk.
From there, Underwood talked about the challenges that a celebrity mom faces.
Not looking for sympathy, by any means, but just being honest with her followers.
This is what she wrote:
As I prepare for red carpets and for life on tour, right now I make a promise to myself to start appreciating what my body CAN do and stop focusing on what it can’t.
I promise to stop analyzing every angle and every curve and every pound and every meal. I’m going to keep staying the path because it is a journey and as long as I’m always working towards my goals, one day I’ll reach them.
I’m going to take it day by day, smile at the girl in the mirror, and work out because I love this body and all it has done and will continue to do!
Underwood concluded by adding the hashtags #bodyafterbaby #fitmom #healthy #staythepath.
Carrie has amassed such a large fan base partly due to how candid she's willing to be.
For example, she fell and got 50 stitches on her face last year, confessing afterward that she was afraid to be seen in public due to her appearance.
"When I am ready to get in front of a camera, I want you all to understand why I might look a bit different," she said at the time, adding:
"I'm hoping that, by then, the differences are minimal, but, again, I just don't know how it's all going to end up."
But Carrie then returned to a stage and did this:
She looks amazing and sounds amazing.
We adore her.
