There's a lot going on in the life of Ben Affleck these days.
Ben's not Batman anymore; his beloved Patriots are once again embroiled in scandal; and it's generally not a good time for short-tempered privilege bros who are prone to fits of jowl-quaking rage.
But it's not all doom and gloom for Beantown Bennie.
In fact, there's reason to believe he'll soon be putting the tumultuous events of the past five years or so behind him,
Affleck is sober now, and he's stepped away from some of his career obligations in order to spend more time with his three children.
And in perhaps the surest sign that the actor is looking to turn things around and get back to living his best life, we now have confirmation that Ben is back together with Lindsay Shookus.
“They’ve picked up right where they left off," a source close to the situation tells Us Weekly.
“They’ve been talking and have seen each other again.
So what's changed since Ben and Lindsay broke up last summer?
Well, apparently, Affleck checking into rehab and receiving help with his drinking problem was a major factor in Lindsay's decision to give the relationship another chance.
"Ben is in a much better place health-wise and is a lot happier,” says the insider.
Before their unexpected split in August, there was talk of Affleck and Shookus getting married.
The abrupt nature of the breakup led many to the conclusion that there was some precipitous event that caused Ben and Lindsay to go their separate ways.
But apparently, whatever it was, it wasn't so extreme that Lindsay is unwilling to forgive.
Interestingly, however, at least one source close to Affleck says he and Lindsay are simply spending time together and have not yet officially reconciled.
“They will keep talking and see what happens," says the insider.
"It wouldn’t be surprising if they got back together, but with the distance and living on different coasts it’s difficult.”
Yes, Lindsay is still a producer at SNL, and Affleck's kids keep him tethered to Southern California.
Even so, this source is giving off an "official rep for Ben" vibe, so why is he pouring cold water on the Lindsay rumors?
Does he not realize this is the best possible thing for Ben's reputation?
We know folks like Ben who are new to recovery are supposed to hold off on starting new relationships, but in Ben's case we think the whole world is just happy he's not banging Playboy models anymore.
