Celebrity Big Brother turned up the heat for the second episode of the season, and the gameplay finally got underway.
The good thing here is that these celebrities actually know what's expected of them, and set out to put on a good show for viewers.
When we picked up, Ryan and Jonathan had just learned they were going to be duking it out for HOH crown in a competition.
Jonathan was not about to let himself be put up in the block without a contingency plan, so he cut a deal with Ryan.
Jonathan said it would be good for them to create a solid seven-person alliance so that they would have the votes no matter which way the rest of the week played out.
The potential alliance would consist of Ryan, Jonathan, Tamar, Kandi, Lolo, Joey, and Natalie. Everyone aside from Joe seemed to be on board.
Lolo tried to promote the benefits of being in an alliance, but the actor shut her down before she got to her pitch.
He said he did not believe in alliances.
“I hate that word,” he sighed while Lolo was talking, burying his own Big Brother grave in the process.
Tamar then realized that she could have a strong female alliance consisting of herself, Kandi, Lolo, and Natalie.
All of the women agreed to it, but there were some reservations because the female alliances notoriously do not stand the test of time.
Jonathan and Ryan then made a deal with Lolo and Natalie to be final four with them. That marks the third alliance Lolo and Natalie agreed to in the space of a few scenes, so we think it's fair to say this is going to come back to bite them.
The HOH competition found Jonathan and Ryan facing off in a tense battle. They had to destroy billboards with their faces on it.
To the surprise of nobody, Ryan secured the win, but there was another big twist on the horizon.
Julie confirmed that Ryan would have to nominate two additional houseguests to join Jonathan on the block.
Lochte started to fall apart under the pressure, confirming that he's not going to be able to make decisions for himself.
He and Jonathan debate the pros and cons of who to nominate. They ultimately settled on the Mooch and Tom after telling their allies that Dina was taking a trip to the block.
That meant their allies were shocked by half of the nominations. Oh yes, this is not a great start for all three big alliances.
