Kendra Caldwell: Wait... Did She Give Birth in a Hospital?!?

by at .

Joseph Duggar and Kendra Caldwell welcomed their first child into the world over the weekend.

As documented on their family's official website, the relative newlyweds are now the proud and very excited parents of a son named Garrett.

“No matter how many times we’ve experienced the joy of babies born in our families, there’s nothing comparable to the joy in our hearts today!" the couple said in a statement confirming this blessed news, adding:

"Children truly are a gift from God. We are so thankful for his safe arrival and this new journey as parents."

But while Joseph and Kendra are understandably psyched about this addition to their immediate family, a handful of Internet users are not ready to celebrate just yet.

You see, Duggar and Caldwell got married on September 8, 2017.

They had their child on June 8, 2018.

For those non-math majors out there, allow us to do this equation and explain the results for you:

Kenda gave birth exactly nine months after she wed Joseph, causing many to wonder whether these two broke the most prominent of all Duggar Courtship Rules:

NO SEX BEFORE MARRIAGE!

"Kinda suspicious," one fan tweeted upon realizing the connection between the dates cited above.

To be fair, sources have said that Caldwell actually gave birth one week before her due date.

This would mean she may have slept with her husband on their wedding night and then a few times after that prior to insemination.

Would the couple really have wanted to start a family so quickly upon become husband and wife? At the young ages of 22 (him) and 19 (her)?

This is the Duggars we are talking  about, so yes, probably. Moreover, contraception is also against the family's many strict rules.

Now, however, with this question still lingering over the exciting baby news, astute social media followers have something else to ponder.:

DID KENDRA GIVE BIRTH IN A HOSPITAL?

Not to beat a conservative horse to death, but the Duggars have yet another rule for their offspring:

Home births only!

Nearly every Duggar woman uses a midwife and eschews professional medical assistance or facilities upon welcoming a baby into the world because... well...

... we have no idea why.

This seems like an antiquated, terrible and dangerous idea.

But it's still the way this family chooses to live.

One look at the first photo Joseph and Kendra shared of their precious son, however, makes it apparent that they are in a hospital.

How so?

Check out those bracelets, folks!

It's difficult to argue that the parents and their newborn are in a hospital, prompting the follow-up question:

Was this arranged ahead of time, counter to the wishes of Jim Bob and Michelle? Or was there a medical emergency?

Joe's sister, Jessa Duggar, needed to be rushed to the hospital after having her first baby at home after she started bleeding so much that her midwife became concerned.

As a result, at least one person thinks Joseph was not about to take any chances.

"Joe has always seemed like a nice and reasonable guy," this user surmises, adding:

"I wouldn't be surprised if they had planned on a hospital birth all along because he wanted Kendra and the baby to be safe, especially after his sisters' disasters."

That would make a lot of sense to us.

Let's hope this was the reason and not that anything is wrong with Kendra or Garrett.

The baby came into this world weighing 7 lbs. 8 oz. and measuring 20.5 inches in length, both of which are reasonable/healthy figures.

“Kendra delivered yesterday without complications. Mom and baby are both doing great,” a representative for the reality show family told Us Weekly on Saturday.

Okay, good. Phew.

We're so very glad to hear this.
