Taylor Swift and Tom Hiddleston are over.

This much we know.

But who dumped whom?!? This question is still up for debate.

At least one person in Hiddleston’s camp has come out and said the actor is the one who split from the singer, saying Hiddleston simply "drifted" from Swift and no longer wanted to be in the relationship.

Case closed then, right?

HA! Yeah, right.

The latest issue of Us Weekly claims just the opposite.

A so-called friend of Swift’s has opened up in detail to the tabloid and said Swift was the one to "put the brakes" on the romance.

The magazine quotes multiple insiders who agree that the couple got off to an “intense start” after a photo of them kissing in Rhode Island went viral on June 15.

There was really nowhere for Swift and Hiddleston to go by down afterward.

It didn’t help that Hiddleston had to be in Australia in July to film Thor: Ragnarok.

Yes, Swift joined him at one point, but the “distance was hard,” according to the magazine.

A handful of week into their attempt at long-distance love, the frustrations on both dies boiling over, resulting in their first big fight in early August.

“It was a major argument,” confirms a source. “They fought about not spending enough time together.”

There was also a strong spotlight on Tom and Taylor from the very beginning.

The latter, of course, is accustomed to dating in the public eye, but a source claims she wanted to try something different this time around.

She wanted to fly as far under the radar as possible this time around, which turned into another issue with Hiddleston.

“Taylor knew the backlash that comes with public displays of affection," this source says. "But Tom didn’t listen to her concerns when she brought them up.”

Hiddleston, according to this tabloid, was the one who chose to boldly wear an I [heart] t.s. tank and a temporary heart tattoo emblazoned with the letter T at the artist’s annual Fourth of July bash.

This flies against the conventional wisdom that had assumed Swift was the star pushing to make this relationship as public and in-our-faces as possible.

“Tom wanted the relationship to be more public than she was comfortable with,” says the Swift source, emphasizing:

“She was the one to put the brakes on the relationship. They get along great and will remain friends, but they just don’t see it working romantically right now."

Swift is handling the break up okay, friends say.

She’s spending time with her Squad, she’s hitting the gym, she may be planning a new album for the near future.

Us Weekly goes on to say that Swift has "no regrets" over getting involved with Hiddleston.

The heart wants what the heart wants, right?

However: “I think she feels a little embarrassed that the whole world saw them so serious and now it’s over,” notes an insider.

But is it really over?

Hiddleston is a romantic who has been known to make big gesture in the past to win over various love interests.

And he will be done filming his new movie soon…

"They could get back together when Tom is done filming and comes back to the States," the insider concludes.

"It’s possible they will see each other and make it work. She had an amazing time with him."
