Ariel Winter may have won tonight’s show, and the telecast hasn’t even begun.
The Modern Family star walked on the red carpet at the 68th Annual Primetime Emmy Awards, looking confident and gorgeous in a glittering gown by Kuwait-born designer Yousef Al-Jasm.
Modern Family is nominated for Outstanding Comedy at tonight’s show.
A new initiative, #AsHerMore is taking place on the red carpet, where interviewers ask female stars questions other than who they are wearing.
Fans were thrilled that Winter was asked about more than just her (gorgeous) gown.
In fact, this gave Winter an opportunity to answer some questions about her future, like her decision to defer from college for a year (she’ll be filming a movie), and what she wants to be when she grows up (a lawyer).
Not only that, but Winter gave young women every a self esteem boost by addressing the timeless issue of body image.
"I’m curvy and i like it," Winter said.
"Everybody’s bodies are beautiful."
As if it weren’t possible to love this girl anymore than we already do.
Oh, and check out that bad-ass tiger tattoo on her upper back, which she got this past summer.
“Every time I post about getting a tattoo, every single person on the face of the planet has something to say about it," Winter said while appearing on The Talk.
“‘You shouldn’t be getting tattoos, you’re ruining your body, how dare you destroy yourself even more, I thought you were pretty and a nice person and now you’re just trash.’”
PS – you’ve seen this dress before.
Kylie Jenner actually wore a shorter version of the design to New York Fashion Week.
Talk of body image couldn’t have come at a better time for Winter, who recently had to defend herself against bullies on social media.
"Every time someone bullies me online, it gives me a chance to re-emphasize to my fans, and even myself, how important self-acceptance is,” Winter wrote.
“Those who say such harsh things on my Instagram, thank you for this opportunity – but the question I ask myself each time I read the mean comments is if this is how you talk to a stranger online, I can only imagine how cruelly you speak to yourself.
”I love my fans and I love my bullies for what they truly need is love. Take the high road, there is less traffic.”
