Chelsea Clinton is all for Kanye West running for President.

Kind of. Sort of. Okay, this is more accurate: Chelsea Clinton is all for Kanye West saying he’s running for President.

The rapper stunned viewers at the MTV Video Music Awards late last month when, upon accepting the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award, Kanye told the crowd:

"It’s about ideas, bro, new ideas. People with ideas, people who believe in truth.

"And yes, as you could have guessed by this moment, I have decided, in 2020, to run for President."

West was (probably) kidding, but the Internet reacted with meme-based enthusiasm (above), while the daughter of the Democratic front-runner in 2016 actually sees something positive in Kanye’s announcment.

"I definitely think who runs for office is really important," Chelsea told MTV News over the weekend, adding:

"Even if him just saying that helps sparks a little boy or a little girl who was watching the VMAs to think, ‘Oh, wow! Maybe I should do that,’ that’s awesome."

Since West’s proclamation, Ice Cube has expressed support for Kanye’s 2020 run and Donald Trump said he hopes "to run against" West sooner rather than later.

Of course, that would mean that Trump wins the Oval Office next year, which is a more frightening prospect than President Kanye would be.

Would Chelsea cast a vote for West in a few years?

"I think it depends on who he’d be running against," she replied diplomatically.
