Sometimes, sh*t happens. Other times, sh*t erupts—with snails and seaweed.
Vacationers at Orcombe Point Beach in Devon, England, complained about a filthy sink hole in the sand.
But this isn’t any random sink hole. This sink hole spews snails and rancid seaweed into the air.
"I looked over and there were big plumes of water coming out of the beach it was all bubbling up much like a geyser,” James Dart, a kite surf instructor, told the Express.
"It was probably going about a foot above the beach.”
Experts are worried that the water spewing from the 6 feet wide and 10 feet deep hole is coming from a damaged sewer pipe. Therefore, not only is the geyser spraying snails and seaweed, it is also tossing feces into the air.
"We believe there may be a spring underneath and we’re investigating the possibility there might be a cracked or blocked outfall pipe as well," said Nick Christow of the East Devon District Council.
Christow has advised people to stay away from the poop-snail-seaweed eruption. The area has been marked off with a plastic fence.
The hole has opened up three times already this summer. In July, the BBC reported that the hole was nearly 15 feet wide and 15 feet deep.
Engineers told the BBC that heavy rains may be a factor in the hole’s shocking size. They are still investigating the exact cause.
