Demi Moore has issued a statement in response to a stunning tragedy that took place at her home over the weekend.
As reported by multiple outlets, the body of a 21-year old man was found dead in the actress' swimming pool early Sunday morning following a party at the residence on Saturday night.
According to the Los Angeles Police Department, the victim (identified as Edenilson Steven Valle of Los Angeles) was unable to swim.
He slipped and fell during a gathering hosted by Moore’s caretaker, one that involved a "limited amount" of alcohol, law enforcement officials tell TMZ.
Neither Moore nor any of her children were present for the event.
"I am in absolute shock," the star said in the statement. "I was out of the country traveling to meet my daughters for a birthday celebration when I got this devastating news."
"The loss of a child is an unthinkable tragedy and my heart goes out to this young man's family and friends. I ask that you please respect the privacy of all concerned during this sensitive time."
Based on social media photos, Scott Willis and Tallulah Belle were in New York City this weekend, while Rumor Willis was traveling with the Dancing with the Stars Live tour.
