Just weeks after memorably declaring that Kathy Griffin "sh-t on" her mother's legacy, Melissa Rivers has announced that the controversial style and comedy roundtable show Fashion Police will return to E! - with Melissa as lead host.
"I'm very excited to be given the opportunity to continue to work with my E! and Fashion Police family," Melissa said in a statement issued to People magazine.
A creation of the late comedy legend Joan Rivers, Fashion Police came under fire back in February after co-host Giuliana Rancic joked about Zendaya Coleman's hair in a fashion that many deemed racially insensitive.
Rather than standing by their embattled colleague, the other co-hosts quickly jumped ship.
It was an odd unraveling for a show that had long trafficked in controversy and outrage, and many declared that Fashion Police would be unable to carry on in today's more PC cultural climate, particularly without Joan Rivers' trademark brashness.
But daughter Melissa believes there's hope for the show yet, and she says the problems that arose earlier this year were the natural result of the show trying to come back to soon without the necessary retooling.
"Just like a family, when the matriarch dies, the sisters started fighting, someone tried to marry in, not a great match, live and learn," Melissa told People.
Rivers also revealed that controversial co-host Rancic will be returning to the show.
