Christopher Lee, a veteran actor best known for his role in the Lord of the Rings franchise, passed away Sunday at the Chelsea and Westminster Hospital in London.
He was 93 years old.
The BAFTA winner appeared in over 275 movies and started began acting in 1947.
He starred as evil wizard Saruman the White in multiple Lord of the Rings movies and also as Count Dooku in Star Wars.
Lee also portrayed the original vampire Count Dracula in a series of films from the late 1950s to the late 1970s.
Lee was knighted in 2009 and is survived by his wife of more than 50 years, former Danish model Birgit “Gitte” Kroencke; along with daughter Christina.
