For the first time in reality TV history, producers are putting an end to fighting. Say what? Hasn’t reality television survived off of getting people drunk and putting them in volatile situations?
Maybe so, but the producers of Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta aren’t having it. They think the fighting has gone too far now that advertisers have started complaining.
Oooooooh, this isn’t about ethics or representing African Americans in an a more positive, realistic manner. Of course, it is about money. Duh.
TMZ sources say that the cast members of the show were required to sign documents agreeing to chill out with the fighting.
Apparently, the producers aren’t effing around either. They flew to Atlanta two weeks ago to set the new policies straight.
According to TMZ, all cast members who engage in physical altercations during filming will be axed from the episode and will be suspended without pay.
Termination is also a possibility if they break the new policy.
This is an interesting move for VH1. LHHA has been the show’s most popular show. And producers of any successful reality show know that fights equal ratings.
Could this be the new face of reality television? Money talks. So if advertisers are complaining about the behavior, the shows will change.
Don’t worry, you’ll adjust. There will always be drama.
TMZ says that the cast is now resorting to screaming because no one wants to lose their money.
The show has been known for its off the wall fights, especially the epic Love and Hip Hop Atlanta reunion brawl that defined last season.
But things got way too serious after Benzino was fired for making death threats after filming the reunion show and Joseline got arrested.
