Boyz II Men once posed a profound question:

How do I say goodbye to what we had?

For Nina Dobrev and Michael Trevino, two regular cast members who will be departing The CW at the end of The Vampire Diaries Season 6, the answer is apparently simple: with Helium!

A video posted by Nina Dobrev (@ninadobrev) on

The actress (who announced her TVD departure last week via a lengthy Instagram message) and the actor (who has filmed a pilot and who creator Julie Plec has confirmed is leaving) filmed their final scene together yesterday.

But neither Dobrev nor Trevino seem too broken up about it, unless they are masking their sadness with silliness.

"We were just kids when we started the show," Dobrev wrote as a caption to the above video. "And we still are, 6 years later."

The footage features these stars sounding a lot like chipmunks, sharing a hug and giving fans one last laugh before doing their separate ways.

We’re going to miss them both.

Earlier in the week, Dobrev shared a picture of herself and Paul Wesley, bidding farewell to that co-star with a sweet message that brought tears to our eyes.

"Just finished filming my last Stefan and Elena scene with the amazing @paulvedere /@paulwesley  #Stelena #TVDFamily," Dobrev wrote.

And now we can’t help but wonder: What will she say, if anything, about ex-boyfriend Ian Somerhalder after those two share their final scene?
