Last week, Kelly Osbourne quit Fashion Police following a mole hill-controversy that became a mountain of scandal.

Osbourne was offended by co-host Giuliana Rancic’s comment about Zendaya’s hair, and she threatened to leave the show unless Rancic publicly apologized for the joke that many interpreted as racist.

Rancic apologized (twice, in fact), Zendaya accepted the apology, and yet Osbourne resigned anyway.

Some suggested that after Kelly threw Giuliana under the bus, there would be no way for them to work together without some intense awkwardness, so Osbourne simply stepped down to avoid the whole situation.

Now a new rumor has surfaced that suggests the decision to leave the show may not have been Kelly’s to make.

“E! told Kelly they would allow her to resign,” an insider tells Radar Online. “But if she had refused, she would have been fired immediately.”

It seems execs took issue with the way Kelly kicked Giuliana while she was down by publicly shaming her on Twitter.

“Most of the drama and damage that happened in the aftermath of the of Giuliana’s comments about Zendaya was because of Kelly tweeting about,” the source claims.

“Speaking out so publicly about the show on social media made things so much worse.”

The insider also claims that the rest of the show’s cast and crew are perfectly okay with Osbourne’s abrupt departure, as she had become difficult to work with, and her absence allows producers to take Fashion Police in a whole new direction.

“With Kelly gone, the show will be able to move forward,” says the source. “Kathy [Griffin] plans on doing some fun skits.”

So less Kelly Osbourne means more fun? Sounds about right to us.
