In the wake of one of her many breakups with John Mayer, Katy Perry consoled herself by adopting a dog named Butters.
We all know Katy’s the impulsive type (hence, the many reconciliations with John Mayer) and picking up a pet on a whim is pretty much always a bad idea, so sadly, it’s no great surprise that Katy is a somewhat negligent pet owner.
What is surprising, however, is the fact that she openly discusses how lazy she is with the poor pup during interviews:
"My assistant is her real mom and I’m her stepmom," Katy recently told People magazine. "I don’t pick up the doo-doo yet and I don’t like things waking me up at 7 am. But she’s great."
Yeah, dogs are totally awesome…especially when you make someone else to do all the real work. The same rule applies to babies, camping, and meal preparation.
Apparently, like the South Park character whose name she bears, poor Butters just can’t catch a break.
It seems that in addition to being pawned off on Katy’s assistant, Butters is forced to travel constantly and be looked after by an ever-changing roster of backup dancers.
"Butters comes everywhere with us," Katy says. "She’s such an amazing tour dog. "All of the dancers will come in and walk her, so she has a really good relationship with the dancers and the band."
As you can see from the pic above, Katy also has no qualms about trotting Butters out on the red carpet like some sort of trembling fashion accessory.
Yeesh. We were finally moving on from those Super Bowl sharks and now Katy is exploiting another animal. Hopefully this one can dance better.
