Annie Lennox joined Hozier at the Grammy Awards last night, and within seconds, the 60-year-old pop legend captivated the crowd at L.A.’s Staples Center.

The Eurythmics singer took the mic about two minutes into the performance and powerfully belted out the lyrics from Hozier’s hit, "Take Me to Church."

Thrashed her head along to the music and feeding off its raw energy with plenty of her own, Lennox became a trending topic immediately. Watch:

Annie then launched into a cover of "I Put a Spell on You," which she delivered with just as much ferocity and power, earning a standing ovation.

Her rendition of the Screamin’ Jay Hawkins song – a difficult one to sing live – was stellar, delivered with panache, intensity and pure command.

She made headlines last fall after Lennox called out Beyonce as "feminist lite" after the latter’s epic 16-minute show at the 2014 MTV VMAs.

Annie also called out many current pop stars in this day and age for using "cheap" theatrics and promoting "sex always sells" antics live onstage.

The crowd was enthralled with Lennox’s effort here, however, and we imagine that Annie appreciated the Beyonce Grammy performance as well.
