Bruce Jenner has issued a statement in response to the tragic car accident in which he was prominently involved over the weekend.

As previously reported, the former Olympian was at the center of a terrible crash on Saturday when his Escalade plowed into a Lexus that had hit the brakes after the car in front of it came to a sudden stop.

The woman driving the Lexus died when her vehicle was hit straight-on by a Hummer. In total, seven others were injured at the scene.

An investigation quickly commenced to determine whether Jenner was texting while driving, though his rep claims this was not the case.

On Sunday night, meanwhile, Jenner went public with his condolences to those affected by the fatal incident.

“My heartfelt and deepest sympathies go out to the family and loved ones, and to all of those who were involved or injured in this terrible accident,” he said.

“It is a devastating tragedy and I cannot pretend to imagine what this family is going through at this time. I am praying for them. I will continue to cooperate in every way possible.”

Jenner voluntarily took a field sobriety test shortly after the crash, while a spokesman for the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department says there is “no indication” the star was being chased by the paparazzi at the time of the accident.

The step-father of Kim Kardashian has been a target of the media over the past several days because it has been confirmed that a Bruce Jenner sex change is actually on the way.

It will be featured as part of a new, upcoming E! reality program.
